Axis & Allies Global 1940 Board Size

One question worth asking before attempting to play Axis & Allies Global 1940, is whether you have a table big enough to hold the board. You think I’m kidding, but – no – it’s something to consider.

As you likely know, the A&A Global 1940 board is created by placing the boards of Axis & Allies Europe 1940 and Axis & Allies Pacific 1940 side by side (yes, they line up for this very purpose!)

The combined board, frankly, is quite huge.

The Axis & Allies Global 1940 board size is 70 x 32 inches (178 x 81 cm).

Most dining room tables can likely handle the 32 inches wide, but the 70 inches long is where it can become an issue. Also, consider that it’s nice to have room for boxes, cards, IPCs, and such (beer!) on the table as well (i.e. you may want more room than the board dimensions).

So, a 6 person rectangular table is likely a minimum table size, but I recommend you do a quick measurement before you have the crew over to play.

    • Actually, there is a larger neoprene roll out map available from Renegade Games, the successor of Avalon Hill/Hasbro when it comes to Axis & Allies games. They do offer reprints of popular games from the A&A game series, develop new games such as the soon coming Axis & Allies North Africa game and feature larger game maps for 1940 Global and Anniversary Edition. The map for 1940 Global is 20 per cent larger than the OOB map, which means it is 84 x 38 inches or 7 x 3.2 feet big. You can find it at https://eu.renegadegamestudios.com/axis-allies-1940-global-map/
Price tag is 60 bucks plus shipment.
